Why I've Been Staying OFF Social Media & Winning In Private

In this clip, I share why I haven't been posting as much content and being as active on social media. I've spent a large portion of my career documenting my life and other people's lives, for all to see. While it's been a fun journey, I am now going on journeys by myself that I don't care to share with others. Although my new journey may give other people insight, I'd rather keep my business private while I grow. There's nothing wrong with using social media to your advantage, but I think the use of social media is becoming excessive and overused. Social media is becoming more of a way of life rather than a tool that is used within life to get your further. I enjoy using social media as a business tool. I try my best not to be so connected to social media and to be more in tune with real life.

Communication is KEY

Communication is key. Don't be scared to talk to people. Be like George Costanza and do the opposite of what you'd normally do (in a good way). Be available to people and take time to listen to others. Always keep your ego in check and give a few seconds to think before you speak or respond. You don't need to respond to everything someone says to you. Sometimes silence is the best response. Always be respectful to other people and speak how you would want to be spoken to. If you follow these simple rules, communication with others will be a little easier. If you're interested in a consultation session, feel free to reach out. -Ousala

Why You Shouldn't Care About a Release Date | Building a Successful YouTube Channel

Why You Shouldn't Care About a Release Date | Building a Successful YouTube Channel

I'm so tired of seeing people with their release dates. Nobody cares about your release date. If you're lucky enough to have my attention, whatever it is that you're selling better be available now or else I'm on to the next thing. Unless you have a huge following and there's some method to your release date, then I think setting up a release date is pointless. Being spontaneous and prolific works a lot better than setting up anticipation that doesn't really exist. Here's a clip from a consultation session that I have a few weeks ago with singer/songwriter @Myia B. If you're interested in a consultation session, contact me. Thanks

Why Are You Being So Defensive???

Why Are You Being So Defensive???

I also discuss being more receptive to information, whether you perceive the information as good or bad. Contact me if you're interested in a consultation session.

Jay-Z WOULDN'T Be a Successful Artist Had He Came Out in 2021

Jay-Z WOULDN'T Be a Successful Artist Had He Came Out in 2021

I don't think Jay-Z would be a successful artist if he came out with the same approach that he did in 1996, in 2021. Jay-Z and Roc-a-fella created this "Godfather of Brooklyn-esque" persona that made him appear larger than life. In Hip Hop, this approach has been replicated so many times that I don't think it would be as easily believable nowadays. In this clip from a consultation session that I had last weekend with a talented artist named Kash Vegan, we discuss why I feel like the internet is now like the "Wild West", how record labels look for young and naive artists, how artists are famous but not rich, 48 Laws of Power and making accomplishments seem effortless and much more.

The Legend of 50 Cent, DDG Retires from YouTube & Why Kid Cudi Wore a Dress

In this continuation from the consultation session I had yesterday with Kash Vegan, I speak about the rise of 50 Cent and I discuss my opinion on YouTuber turned rapper DDG and him recently shutting down his popular YouTube channel with all of his vlogs and prank videos. I also discuss why Fetty Wap's missing eye made him more relatable, Kid Cudi wearing a dress on Saturday Night Live, short attention spans due to the rise of social media platforms, the overabundance of online content and keeping your mystique as an artist.

How To OWN YOUR MASTERS | Copyright | Publishing | Music Business Advice

How To OWN YOUR MASTERS | Copyright | Publishing | Music Business Advice

What does it mean to "OWN YOUR MASTERS"? A master recording is the official and original recording of a song, sound or performance. Also referred to as "masters", it is the source from which all the later copies are made. This is Part Two of my session with E.Z. Cin, who is a talented songwriter, composer & guitarist who had several questions about copyright, master recordings, split sheets, music publishing and more. In this video, I discuss counter claiming copyright takedown notices, how to secure and own your master sound recordings, having all of your paperwork in order including split sheets, an artist manager's roles in the music business, getting electronic signatures and more. How To Start an LLC WITHOUT Paying a Lawyer

How To Start an LLC WITHOUT Paying a Lawyer

If you want to learn how to set up an LLC online and without hiring a lawyer, this is the video for you. I show you exactly how I set up an LLC for my new business in under 30 minutes, step-by-step. I've set up several successful LLCs and in this video I want to show you exactly how. LLC stands for "limited liability company." An LLC is one type of legal entity that can be formed to own and operate a business. LLCs are popular because they provide the same limited liability as a corporation, but are cheaper and easier to form and run. If you're starting a new business and expect money to start flowing in soon, then I suggest starting an LLC.

How Jay-Z STEALS Artists from SMALL Record Labels

How Jay-Z STEALS Artists from SMALL Record Labels In this clip from a consultation session last week, I discuss starting your own record label, signing artists, publishing and loyalty. I also discuss how Houston, TX based artist Megan Thee Stallion recently sued her record label, 1501 Entertainment, after she wanted to renegotiate her record deal. Megan signed a 360 deal with baseball star Carl Crawford's record label 1501 Entertainment, a few years back. After reaching stardom, it was reported that Jay-Z's management company, Roc Nation, reached out to Megan regarding their interest in managing her career. Shortly after the news that Megan was going to be working with Roc Nation, reports started to surface that Megan was in talks of suing her record label, due to her wanting to renegotiate her agreement with 1501. Usually when up and coming artists gain fame, various management companies will gain interest in the artist. Management companies will want to see your contracts and offer advice on your behalf, but this practice is known in law as "tortious interference". Tortious interference, also known as intentional interference with contractual relations, in the common law of torts, occurs when one person intentionally damages someone else's contractual or business relationships with a third party, causing economic harm. Whether intentional or not, you should not interfere with other people's financial agreements. This is how Jay-Z and other artists management companies steal artists from smaller independent labels. I recently won a six-figure lawsuit a few years ago due to unscrupulous artists, management companies and lawyers who will cut anyone's throat to get ahead in life and in business. The music business can be great, but it can also be dirty. Loyalty may play a major part in your success in the music business. Is your loyalty based on how much you can get paid or is it based on your true belief in yourself and your team / situation? I don't put much faith in loyalty nowadays. What are your thoughts? Check out the video and make sure to Like, Comment, Share this video and Subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.

How DIDDY Made MILLIONS from Music Publishing

In this clip from a consultation session, I speak with an entrepreneur from Florida named Nuko. We talk about setting up a publishing company and I also discuss with her how Sean "P. Diddy" Combs set up a successful publishing company along with his hit record label Bad Boy Records. I've always respected Diddy as an entrepreneur and I've heard several stories about his rise to success and fame. One of the stories that I've heard dealt with him taking large sums of his artists publishing royalties. In the 90s, record labels spent lots of money to market their artists, so the labels taking a portion of the artists publishing money can be justified. Musicians depend on publishing royalties and artists often regret signing publishing deals later in life, when their music and touring revenue begins to slow down. Some of these publishing deals are straight up predatory. Music artists are often unemployed and in need of money and artists often sign deals without consultation. A record label or publishing company may offer the artist an advance, which means cash in their hands right now. This is how the music business works and this is why labels like young and naive artists. You can't hate on a business man or woman for trying to make a profit. The whole point in being in business, is to profit. No one is in business to lose. You must try your best to never take business personally, even though business and finance has an affect on your livelihood. I also share the story of the day I received my first publishing check in the mail. Check out the video and make sure to Like, Comment, Share this video and Subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.
