Entertainment Lawyers & The Music Business (How To NOT Get RIPPED OFF)
At some point, when your project starts to take off, you may need a lawyer to help you understand some of the contracts that may be coming your way. You don’t really need a lawyer, and any information that you seek is an Internet search away, but if you have access to a good entertainment lawyer, then I’d recommend keeping one on speed dial. You better hope you have some sort of understanding with the lawyer also. Some lawyers will turn the clock on and charge you for every minute that you speak with them. Be very careful not to retain a lawyer’s services until you can afford it, or it seems absolutely necessary. Some lawyers may talk with you for hours, while you’re oblivious that their rate clock is on. Everyone is in the game to make money, just like you are and if you think a lawyer is giving you free information, either you’re very lucky, or you better think twice. In this video I talk about conflict of interest and tortious interference.
